Basic Fraud Protection

When you get a merchant account, you will usually see an Address Verification Service (AVS) Basic Fraud Protectionfee.  This fee helps to check the billing address for the customer.  However, if you do not perform this function (or are unable to because it is an international transaction) your transaction will be downgraded to what is known as a non-qualified rate.  The merchant account providers consider these transactions to be a higher risk for a chargeback or potential fraud.

The next basic step in helping to prevent fraud is Card Verification Value (CVV2), Card Verification Code 2 (CVC2), and Card Identification Number (CID).   Even though they are not as much help as Visa / MasterCard / American Express / Discover would have hoped, they should be used as another tool to help you prevent fraud.

Additional Fraud Prevention Tools

Unlike most other gateway that charge extra for advanced fraud prevention tools, the Quantum Gateway does not.  We offer

  • Maxmind GeoIP
  • Dial Verify
  • Verified By Visa (VBV) and MasterCard Secure Code (MSC)

Unlike most other gateway that require you to sign up for these extra services, the Quantum Gateway does not.  It is easily added to the check out process through the virtual terminal.
